The Battle of Bannockburn, 1314

"England, Scotland is getting quite vexing for the safety of our land. You surely are conscious of the importance of holding Stirling Castle, since it commands the route north into the Scottish Highlands."
I have been urgently summoned before my King, Edward II of England.
"Of course, Your Majesty."
“You know your duties and responsibilities, hence: I vow to thee, my country, the service of my love."
Scotland, brother, we're from different worlds with one shared memory that carelessly deletes and draws the same history. Behind a shadow of smiles and cautious gestures, our days are passed struggling, and even if I can no longer stand the pain, it hurts me to dedicate to you my resentment.

~𝕭𝖊𝖙𝖗𝖆𝖞𝖆𝖑 𝖎𝖘 𝖔𝖓𝖑𝖞 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖇𝖊𝖌𝖎𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖓𝖌~ Born the youngest daughter of Charles I, Duke of Bourbon, Constance of Bourbon grows up amidst comfort and splendour on her powerful family's estates in France. A shy child, she prefers her prayers and pearls to the hefty politics her Father and brothers have no choice but to partake in but war will reach into her life quicker than she could ever know.... Across the sea, in England, the Wars of the Roses rages, a bloody battle for the throne between the royal Houses of York and Lancaster where a word weighs as much as the swing of a sword. Amidst it all, stands Edward of York, the handsome eldest son to the Duke of York, a young knight, eager to fight but forced to flee England in 1459 when the Lancastrian King and Queen overpower his family forces at Ludlow Castle. With his Neville cousins (one being the infamous Earl of Warwick) Edward sails to France where Warwick begins his plots to regain the House of York power. It is as a result of these plots, Edward and Constance are destined to meet. Worlds apart, they will be matched for the benefit of others but when tragedy strikes at the very heart of the House of York, forcing Edward closer to the throne than ever, they find they are, perhaps, what each other needs. Amongst the tangled nest of vipers, surrounded by bloodied thorns, will they keep the crowns destiny calls for them to claim?

One since the princess went into hiding and the Scots sent envoys to Cymru, hoping to secure aid against their common enemies. Her country in ruins, her fighting men few, Fiona McCurragh nonetheless finds courage as the Lowlanders return from Cymru. As winter thaws into spring, the Danes renew their hunt for the Scottish princess, nearly discovering her and the Scots' newfound Cymreig allies. The Scots, forced to play their hand, retaliate by launching their third war against their invaders. Yet the elder son of Chieftain McCladden and Fiona McCurragh soon realise that not all battles are won with men and spears; some are of the heart. In an unforeseen act of treachery, Fiona is captured and held prisoner at Caerloch Castle, awaiting torture and execution. Meanwhile, the Lowlanders and the Cymry find themselves faced by Lady Nuith's innumerable hosts and beyond the reach of the silent Highlanders. A secret two decades old could unravel everything... Elyn Douglas doesn't feel like she belongs in the small village of Dornie, lingering right outside the walls of Eilean Donan Castle. After the assassination of Laird Angus MacKenzie, she's thrust into a world of violence and highlanders, but when she meets the rugged and powerful Gavin, she doesn't know what to expect. All she knows is that when he looks at her, her heart melts a little bit of the frost that has plagued her whole life... As chilling rain and howling wind pelt the Highlands, Elyn fights the racing of her heart that begs for her Highlander's Embrace...
