Jay Shang has always been a foreigner among his people, an oddity whispered about behind closed doors. He loved his family and had his entire life planned out. He was content with the path he had chosen, and had never wanted anything more. That is, until the day the murderous raiders of the Kimanche raided his village. These evil, savage, bloodthirsty warriors had been tormenting the small country of Darmenia for over a decade. They pillaged and plundered any that did not follow the strange and archaic religion that they based their lives upon.
Faced with the choice of sacrificing himself or letting all those he loves die, Jay sells himself into the Kimanchean army at the tender age of only ten years old.
Though inexperienced and weaker than his new comrades, and with dark forces plotting against him, Jay will endure any struggle, and any pain in order to protect the ones he loves.
