"Eventually, they formed their own great race of people, formed from citizens of many different countries. All of them, identifying as Kimanche - Chosen of the Gods..."

Jay Shang has always been a foreigner among his people, an oddity whispered about behind closed doors. He loved his family and had his entire life planned out. He would join the Darmenian army and become a great General just like his father. He would bring honor to his family and show his village that he was more than just his strange appearance.
He was content with the path he had chosen, and had never wanted anything more. That is, until the day the murderous raiders of the Kimanche raided his village. These evil, savage, bloodthirsty warriors had been tormenting the small country of Darmenia for over a decade. They pillaged and plundered any that did not follow the strange and archaic religion that they based their lives upon.
Faced with the choice of sacrificing himself or letting all those he loves die, Jay sells himself into the Kimanchean army at the tender age of only ten years old.
Though inexperienced and weaker than his new comrades, and with dark forces plotting against him, Jay will endure any struggle, and any pain in order to protect the ones he loves.
With the help of new friends and new Gods, Jay Shang is on his way to being one of the greatest and most powerful warriors the world has ever seen.

Can Jay survive the ordeals the Kimanche throw at him and keep himself and his family safe?

Volume 1 of the "Age of Solace" series. (Part 1 of 4). A serious dark-fantasy story. Descriptive violence and gore, as well as dark themes (Rated M, no lemons present). Peace. Conflict. War. Bloodshed. This is the way of things, and this is what happened between the dragons and mankind. Once they were allies. Man was ever growing and learning, while dragons were their guardians, watching over them. But mankind was greedy, and from that greed bred betrayal towards their great allies. In times long ago, dragon and man worked together to rid their realms of the demonic presence that once invaded their lands. Together, they defeated that enemy. But now, dragons are near extinct and the demonic menace has returned. There are humans that possess abilities that allow them to fight back, but it is not enough. Such humans have banded together, in a group called Corvin's blades. They hope to be able to defeat their enemy without the aid of dragons this time... but there is more to all of this than anyone understands. This story follows multiple youthful characters as they not only aid in the fight against the demonic threat, but learn and grow as they discover more about the lands they live in and of themselves. Views on dragons are changing, demons and spirits are invading, and two individuals are in the center of everything that is happening. Was it fate and destiny... or choice and coincidence? *Rated M for descriptive violence and gore, as well as dark themes* * Chapters to be updated* *Cover art was made by myself. *****REWRITING!!!! Marked as complete so people know I'm Not editing anymore!!!****** Not everyone gets a choice in who they want to be. Sometimes destiny forces people into roles they don't want. Sometimes, it's just bad luck. Fighting the life one has been given by fate is supposed to be impossible, but someone has to do it. There isn't going to be any overly graphic content, so I didn't put a mature working. However, there will be adult language and violence, so please keep that in mind.
