Hark Averyll is immortal, that much is proved if not by science, then by his own primordial knowledge and abilities that he has cultivated since his birth millennia ago...or even the fact he recently died. However, there is one problem: he can't remember any history of his own.

In Victorian London as a gentleman of witty notoriety, Mr. Averyll has built himself up from the bottom where he was found in a ditch a decade before, by a man assuming the fatherly role in a most violent manner. After finally escaping and befriending an investigator by the name of John Francis, things seemed to be looking up. Well, that was until John's supposedly dead lover appears before them as a vampire.
