When Haldir of Mirkwood and his brothers Rumil and Orophin are sent to deliver a message to Lothlórien, he expected to return within a mere couple of weeks' time. Yet the plans of the Lady are different and before he can turn around he is trapped in a forest completely different to the one he has grown up in. Adding to his confusion is the young elf Daera (pronounced: DaEra) who is clearly interested in Haldir yet she still has to fight her own demons. And her time to pick sides is running out... Being a king is hard. Raising a son is hard. Living with eternal grief is hard. King Thranduil is just trying to keep his kingdom running and his son safe when an elf is found with orcs at the border of Greenwood. Who could this mysterious elf truly be? But then the elf he rescued in the forest grows closer to Legolas, and Thranduil can not help but enjoy her company as well. Darkness descends over the forest, all because of this one elf. When lives are threatened, Thranduil must make a choice: his kingdom or his heart. 12/14/21- y'all I wrote this in high school and I kinda want to go through it again and do a bunch of editing. Some of my writing makes me cringe and what are we here for if not improvement. That being said, this story will change starting today probably and if you're in the middle of it, hopefully I don't confuse details or timelines for you. If you've already read it once and just felt like you had to read it again, maybe it will provide some new enjoyment. Who knows? Maybe I'll actually finish some other stuff I have on here.

She is becoming accustomed to life in Mirkwood. There is an unmistakable connection forming between her and Thranduil, but she has noticed the past few days she has awoken from strange dreams. As her feelings for him grow she finds herself running away but things never return to the way they were. Will she discover who she truly is? Will she ever reveal her emotions for the man who never let her go?
