The year is 2026 earth has had some struggles. One half of America has been wiped out by the war that went on 10 years ago between China. They inflict their atomic bombs upon half of our country. Getting revenge for the two we dropped 81 years ago. 10 years later there is piece but the fear for what may possibly happen is still very great.

We now need to help humans to survive even if that means taking them. We mostly look for one certain genetic trait that was caused by the radiation from the fall out. These are the ones we use. Once children turn 16 they are taken to one of our facilities. We call this... The Project

Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. As complete panic set in around the world, the rich and important people were all gathered and placed on giant spaceships with enough resources and room to house generations of human beings. Before they left though, the government leaders fired As a result, most of the human population died off and earth was a complete wasteland. The little that survived started building local communities and trying to survive in the destroyed excuse of a planet. On the disaster of a planet, creatures mutated and were born out of the nuclear chemicals; creating new species and monsters that hunted humans. While hundreds and hundreds of years passed, the monsters kept evolving and the people kept adapting while still trying to keep a sort of community. They didn't want to lose all of their humanity and become nothing more than animals that hunted the monsters: then they would truly be no better than the monsters themselves. So they stayed civil while still doing what it took to survive.
