The only problem is, the kingdom is not positive as to who committed each crime.  In order to be sure, the palace guards set up a series of tricks to reveal each kid's crime. One by one, as the kids accidentally reveal their crimes, they are publicly executed. But there is a catch; the last person to bend to the guards' wills and admit his or her crime will be sworn into knighthood.
