Ms. Anna Bockings is an independent woman, only worried about making a statement through her daily life that women can work and do things just as a man can. She writes books and plays, and shows her plays at the Theater Royal, in London, but with much competition, since she is the only woman using the theater. Mr. Daniel Dunnagan is a handsome, educated, business owner who seems to take much interest in Anna and her works. Anna does not worry much about romantic or social affairs, unless she has to, so is not one to jump into the opportunity of getting involved with Mr. Dunnagan, but finds herself drawing close to him while trying to pull away. Will Daniel's charm win Anna over? Will Anna discover that she does not need to dislike the male species in order to be an independent feminist woman?

# Prologue **Two Years Ago** The music is too loud. I can't stop laughing. "Becky, slow down," Irin says. Someone stops me from reaching for another drink. Saint's twin. Freen. "I think you've had enough." "Where's Saint?" I slur. "Work emergency," she says quietly. The room spins. I stumble toward the exit. Three guys block my path, saying disgusting things. Freen steps in front of me. "She's with me. Back off." They don't listen until security comes. In her car, everything's fuzzy. Her gentle hands helping me to the door. Waiting while I fumble with keys. When I turn to thank her, she's so close. Gold flecks in her dark eyes. The kiss happens before I can think. Soft. Perfect. I pull away, mumbling apologies. She backs into the shadows. I stumble inside and pass out. **The Next Morning** Saint calls early. "Beck, I'm so sorry about last night. Are you okay?" "What do you mean?" "The guys bothering you. I'm so glad I could help you get away from them." I frown. "You were there?" "Of course. I couldn't let anything happen to you. I was so worried when I saw those guys cornering you. Thank God I got you home safely." My head hurts too much to think clearly. "Thank you." "You don't remember much, do you? You were pretty drunk. That's probably for the best. A wayward regency au one shot I wrote for fun, and because the concept wouldn't stop haunting my mind. ~ Trying to get back up after his ex-fiancé left him, Lord Arthur Pendragon relents to his friends and families idea of hosting a party in his family's estate. Although holding up hope for a new love that evening, he could not predict falling head over heel for a woman with haunted eyes, who secretly hides a crooked and wicked grin and a spark of intrigue unlike any he's glimpses before. After catching the sight of that side of her, and the way her families mistreatment severely dampens it, he finds himself sure of one thing. He's going to get her out their grasp, but doing so might be more tricky then first expected. Miss Harriet Frodesdotter is stuck in a hell of constantly being forced into a uncomfortable, lace covered, dress, into unbearably loud ballrooms, and dealing with condescending suitors that her controlling sister manages to steer towards her. The sudden approach by a Lord Pendragon does make her pause however, his sweet and concerned eyes appearing to be almost horrifyingly sincere as he offers to help her with her family issues. She doesn't trust him, he's not the first to claim to be her savour for purely selfish reasons, but something tells her that there's something more to him, and not in a bad way. ~ Content warning for ableism, family issues (including abuse, I don't perceive it as especially graphic, but it's there) and depictions of meltdowns.Complete
