Demarcus Cassel is a notorious torturer and psychotic madman. Every year, on February 27, at 11:59 precisely, he takes a victim and tortures them horrendously. No one knows where he hides, who he really is, not even what he looks like. All they know is his calling card; a dead black rose with a note that says, "Dearest Elissa, yours truly, Demarcus Cassel." No one knows who Elissa is either. It remains the biggest mystery in Tampa history.

Along comes Karisa Sallee, Demarcus's latest victim. And she sees him as more than a killer with a one track mind. She sees a whole other side of him that not even Demarcus himself knew existed.
