Nightmares are creatures of shadows, who create nightmares for the humans, transforming their fear, sadness and despair into energy. They are totally invisible and intangible to humans, even if they can grab and touch objects. Desire is one of them. Being chased by another Nightmare, who wants him dead, and all alone, he tries to survive.
And then he meets Camelia. A human capable of sensing Nightmares, which would normally be impossible. Intrigued by her, Desire decides to stay with her. But the thing is; Camelia is no ordinary human: she is blind.

---The first desired something he could never get.
The second wished to be someone else.
The third allied with loved ones to better destroy them.
The last was so different it attracted the others.
For better or for worst.---

Now she's got to learn how to survive in this new, scary environment where everyone's out for her demise. I've learned a lot of the parts in this book relate to real-life events, places in the present, and the past. You'll see a lot of connections between actual human historical events and the goings on in this book. The main character is, above all, head strong and bold.
