"I thought you were gone for good," I spat, not caring how harsh I sounded right now. "Well, I mean, I-I was, but I... wanted to come back..." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and stared at the ground, taking sudden interest in a piece of dirt on the floor. "Why? Why would you? Do you have any idea how.. how... inappropriate this is?" I no longer minded that we were in public. I hope people sees us. Sees me, standing up for myself. "Because..." His voice cracked and he restarted, "because I miss you." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mackenzie Richards has a nice life, when she doesn't think about the past. She's all about keeping her focus on a certain goal and staying on that path until she reaches the end. She was really good at it, too. Until someone from her past comes back. She knows what can and will happen if she looses focus. She knows she can't turn back. She shouldn't have looked over her shoulder at the past. But she did. And she regrets it.All Rights Reserved
