Emmeline or Emmy as some people called her, was a normal sixteen year old girl with regular teenage problems. She is an A student with high hopes and dreams but that all changes when her old friend, Marcus come back into town to make things right with the people that he had left. But will Emmy let Marcus back into her life when everything in her life comes crashing down or will she let Marcus come back into her life and save her from everything, even herself. Marcus Cooper had a wonderful childhood, his parents had always loved him dearly but when both his parents died in a terrible car accident, Marcus runs away from home and from the pain that home holds. But when Marcus realizes a few years later that he had abandoned everything and started to feel a bit homesick Marcus returns home but when he is faced with an old friend, old feelings start to resurface. Will Marcus be allowed back into Emmy's life or will he always think of would could have been?
