15 year old Indigo is in her 4th year of secondary School, living on the outskirts of London. She lives with just her mum as her dad wasn't in the picture from when she was just five. She's never been a social butterfly but that all changes when she's re introduced to a girl called Brittney she used to know growing up. They never got along through out their child hood (a jealousy thing). Indigo is then introduced to Brittney's friend group while drama stirs. Indigo lives next door to her very dear friend Max who's a year old than herself. Their friendship begins to deteriorate when Max gets a girlfriend called Kerry who is constantly degrading Indigo. Max and Indigo re gain their bond after Kerry's true colours finally shine through and they become closer than ever. Maybe a little too close... whilst the heat grows with Max, Brittney starts to worry Indigo for being 'too mature for her age'. Year 11 is creeping around the corner and things are going down hill. Indigo Chávez, he's dramatic. That's something you realize about him pretty quickly. Some, well, he thinks most, call him funny. The other percentage call him annoying. He's childish, immature, irrational, and flat-out stupid. Sometimes, when you know too much, it's easier to act like you don't. He's a recovering drug addict, still currently one. It's hard for him to grow up. He lives a normal enough life, unlike most like him. His body gets sold to pervert men and pervert women, sometimes for months, never longer than three, though. His stepmom seems to hate him but not fully. They have a weird relationship. She's the one who sells him. He's curious. He's very stubborn, too. When he makes a decision, he doesn't go back. It takes him a while to realize things. Indigo Chávez is a smart-ass. He likes to talk back, and he never thinks before he speaks. He feels like he's above everyone but never admits it. All the pieces of his story don't seem to fit. Something doesn't make sense. The more you read, the more that makes sense. The book alternates between him, the people in his life, and back in time to his father and his sister's father. In the end, maybe the only ones truly there for you are your siblings

Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
