A few weeks ago I purchased a redundant vicarage as a new home from the Church of England. Whilst renovating the loft I discovered a packet of letters fallen behind a roof beam. The first one I read was addressed to Miss Elizabeth Harding, The Vicarage, Chalfont St.Peter's, Buckinghamshire and I reproduce it here because of the unusual, not to say bizarre, nature of its contents.
