After the Hale House fire, Ali Hale was left in the care of her 16-year-old brother, Derek. She was three years old when most of her family died.
She had gotten along, not many friends, always sulking around her burnt down house with her brother. Until her older sister comes back to town, and is killed before she even gets the chance to say hello.
She's miserable. She doesn't know what to do anymore. She can't go even a little while without someone in her family dying and getting even more stares at school. Not to mention the fact that her brother needs to protect her because she was one of the only people in her family who was, yes. Human.
That is until a certain teen is bitten by a new alpha. She's helping her brother, help this new beta, and it seems like things will be better. Granted, a little bumpy here and there. But with her brother and some new found friends, things are finally looking up for the first time since after the fire.

Side by side they work to together to help Scott learn how to be a werewolf but also to catch the unknown alpha. Along with the other dangers that begin the fill the town. Hayley and Derek's love is tested throughout the story. One thing they know is that they will always have each other. That their love is forever.
