Blue Reflections and Broken Waves

“Look at me.” I whispered, not realizing I had taken a step closer.
His eyes rose to meet mine and although I would never admit it, a wave of sympathy washed over me. He was just as broken as I was, if not more. Behind those steely eyes of ice hid memories that made him who he was. There was a reason. I just kept telling myself there was a reason.
“You should go, Lea. I’m going to close up soon.”
I didn’t respond as I exited the room. I didn’t feel the need to. One way or another I would get him to open up. No matter how long it took, I would find a way to break down those walls.

Lea Clark has spent the past year mourning her father's death, hiding from the memories of the day the ocean took his life. Terrified of even dipping her toes in the water, she gives up surfing, but takes a job at a surf shop in an effort to hold on to the small piece of herself she has left.
