“Look at me.” I whispered, not realizing I had taken a step closer.
His eyes rose to meet mine and although I would never admit it, a wave of sympathy washed over me. He was just as broken as I was, if not more. Behind those steely eyes of ice hid memories that made him who he was. There was a reason. I just kept telling myself there was a reason.
“You should go, Lea. I’m going to close up soon.”
I didn’t respond as I exited the room. I didn’t feel the need to. One way or another I would get him to open up. No matter how long it took, I would find a way to break down those walls.

Enter Ashton Hades, who is not only Lea's boss, but the icy cold seventeen year old boy who is allowing her to see the world in a way she never even imagined. As she lets her guard down, she's forced to face the question of whether after all this time she can finally learn to live again or whether the waves will just drag her back under. They say the only way to face your fears is to take them on head first... The real question is how long can you hold your breath after you take that first dive?
