Screams of delighted chatter filling the hallways. Rain drizzling down in buckets, creating intricate patterns on the windows. Teachers, at their wits end, wondering what happened to their relaxing summer vacation. The new school year at Tempora Catholic High School has begun! Down the PE corridor, to the left of the caretakers office and right of a mysterious "Staff only" cupboard, is an old storage room. This is home to an old electric piano with more than one sticky key, and year 10 student Patrick Moth. Patrick is what most people would call a strange boy. Since year 8 he's been playing piano in the school chapel for Mass, when he would much rather be rocking out some heavy metal like his Gothic sister. Patrick is perfectly content with his lonesome life until he meets Bonnie Edwards, an eccentric Thespian with a vibrant personality. She soon pulls him into the school drama club but will he really fit in with all these kids? Meanwhile, new to the school is year 10 student, Charlie Williams. Coming from a school in Yorkshire where she was popular with the art students, she wants to fit in a second time. That's when she comes across a trio consisting of the hilarious Evan Mollsy, Paddy Maxwell and Lee Davidson. At first, Charlie hates them, but when an accident occurs, she and the leader, Evan Mollsy, develop an unexpected friendship. But what mischief will the trio get her into? And are they really the right people to be hanging around with? As Patrick and Charlie's stories collide at the manga section of a local library, they become a major part of each others' story - and Charlie vows to help Patrick by whatever means necessary, despite not even being able to help herself...

Football players are assholes. I know - my brother is their king. Older and annoyingly overprotective, he's the star quarterback at Santa Cruz High School. I love him, but everyone worships the air he breathes and it's suffocating. After a traumatic experience with a quarterback three years ago, I want nothing to do with boys and dating. All that matters is getting into college, so I ace my classes and sign up for my school's student ambassador program to boost my applications. Thankfully, I have my best friend, Harper, to get me through high school being overshadowed by my brother. My plans for a quiet, low-key senior year are destroyed when my brother's cocky, arrogant rival keeps butting into my life. Logan Hightower is a total player who expects me to drool at his feet while he uses me to burn my brother's game. If he thinks I'll fall for his gorgeous looks and shallow charms, he's totally mistaken. He'll never succeed because I hate football players.
