A Japanese soldier writes his final letter home to his wife in Hiroshima, after the atomic bombing of 6 August. In the wake of utter devastation, he imagines his wife still waiting faithfully for his return. He removes his uniform and shuts out everything - the war, the destruction, the ruin, and focuses solely on their reunion. And in death, none of the suffering will ever touch them again.
