This was an essay for a World Literature class with the objective being to rewrite Kafka's Metamorphosis in a modern setting. Obviously, my writing doesn't compete with Kafka, but I did my best. I actually wrote this while looking at a bullet point list of the events from the Metamorphosis, so events and actions should follow closely but with changes I personally chose for my depiction to be distinctive. Some of my classmates wrote happier (and much shorter) endings, including Gregor flying away. I stand by my choice :D

This is a project I originally started in like.. 7th grade and I've re-written and re-written it over and over again and I'm publishing this now in hopes of it being the final version of the story. I'm not done yet and updates might be irregular, but I got a whole bunch of stuff on my plate next to this, I hope if you do give it a read, you still enjoy it. They say write about what you know, and this is sort of that, a little. My two main characters, Wylie and Elias, going over their days as trans guys in middle school; Wylie playing pretend that he's a cis-guy who has not yet hit puberty, and Elias, who's openly trans at his new school, even though he's been mentally scarred by his outings before. Elias is aroace and has depression; Wylie falls from one crush into the next and has severe trust issues and self esteem problems. The two of them have been, as mentioned, my projects for a longer time now, and I think I've got them right this time. Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass about anything from the storyline. Those fucking capture targets are so damn stupid, falling for an idiotic birdbrain heroine. Actually, they probably only fell in love with her for their egos. Why should I ever feel that they're a threat to my life? I'm a duke and duchess' daughter of a powerful kingdom, I'm smart, beautiful, and powerful. I'm just generally better than them. Yeah, I'll just focus on my work as the heir of the dukedom, spoil my brother, improve my magic and swordsmanship, play around, and kill annoying people. This shall be my new life as the prodigy of the century! This is my own story, not fanfiction. All my characters are original. Yes, like all of the other villainess novels out there, we have transmigration in to a villain. And yes, this is like all of the other novels out there, we do have a Mary Sue as our protagonist. Have you ever had one of those terrible yet annoyingly pivotal moments? You know, that monumental fragment of time that flips everything you have ever known. That plot twist second that completely takes you by surprise. The one just before the storm hits and everything goes to hell. Yes? Because you see, that moment happens to be my whole damn life. It wasn't always like this though. I used to have a pretty mundane existence, happy to just get good grades and be around my friends. God I wish I could get that simplicity back, I'd never complain it was boring again. But I know I'm not going to ever get back my old life because well... I died. (Kinda) But I woke up. And I was thrilled, beyond grateful I wasn't dead. But then I realized that there was one minor detail that had changed about my reality. I was given the chance to live but it turns out I woke up as the villainess in an otome game my friend used to be obsessed with - Kingdom of freaking Hearts (I added the freaking in there for effect, it's just Kingdom of Hearts) Where, for the record, the villainess only has two possible endings 1) execution and 2) getting exiled. So Fate was like, "Don't worry, I'll save you. Here's a chance to live" and then was like "psyche, screw you. You're still going to die but I'll let you suffer a little first." So now, if only to annoy Fate by proving it wrong, I am determined to survive. I can and I will if I play by these simple rules: 1) Befriend Heroin 2) Avoid Aryn Edwards at All Costs as well as other capture targets And 3) Be the top student at the academy and become an invaluable asset to my Kingdom so I become indispensable, thus unkillable. I'm determined, stubborn, persistent and I will live passed 16. Fate made a big mistake setting me up to die. Since it threw this plot twist at me, I figure I'll return the favor. I'll be the biggest plot twist Fate never saw coming...

(Hey A/N 6 years after writing this, This book was a mistake its still up for nostalgia reasons, so if you choose to read it i am so sorry. I plan to rewrite it with a bit of a different and more developed plot line on my ao3 Latibuleii, I wrote this in middle school please don't judge too harshly)) In a world where people have wings, each persons wings different in some way, their wings were like finger prints, there were no other wings that were the same. Eren, a high school student that has one midnight blue wing and one grayish white wing. They have beautiful golden streaks that match the gold in his eyes. No one had wings like his, most people had bright colors like red, pink, light blue or green, there were others with miss matched wings but his were the most unique, one dark, one light. No one had seen streaks in such a bright gold. People adored his wings he had so many girls that loved him but he ignored them, he was popular but stayed with his smaller group of friends. Eren is often happy and out going. A new boy by the name of Levi showed up, everyone was surprised by his wings, they were like Eren's except instead of gold it was silver and the tips of his wings had dark crimson red. Levi had a emotionless personality. He did not talk to many people even though he immediately got the girls drooling over him but he rejects all of them. He meets Eren, and Eren is able to befriend him. Their wings mean something don't they?Complete
