Rin has been cast down into a second-class citizen position because of a medical assesment. Now he has to find his place in a society he was taught to hate and be disgusted with. Yet, he finds that it is much more appealing than he could ever imagine. Nikolai is the captain of the most famous ship in Human SOI - Hopestar. It is the only space liner operated by the stamped. Despite being an beacon of hope and the myth surrounding him, he still struggles with the demands of a commanding position and ever-present self-doubt. Can he keep the crew from falling apart when trouble hits? Devon has been a steward for several years but perhaps wasn't completely honest with himself about his own feelings. What should and should not be allowed, when you live outside the 'norms' of the society? This is the voyage of Hopestar, as experiences by three members of its crew.

Humanity's enemy the Preshk where attacking more often and Ezra wanted to be contributing directly to the war effort. Instead he got put on a Scout ship with just one other soul and sent on a five month mission out into deep space. The mission quickly becomes more than the young commander could have ever expected and the fate of humanity lies in how fast he can return back to humanity. This short story is just over 18,000 words and contains sexual content between two men, so If that's not your cup of tea.. don't read :) This is my first attempt at something like this, so feedback is welcome, though be nice :)
