They had their trust broken at a very early age by the people who were supposed to protect and love them. I have been very open with them and have told them several times that they are family to me now. I have also said that if they don't feel the same then that's okay. Either way it's my job to protect and love them" This story embodies the trope of Found Family. I originally wrote it as a comfort story for myself, but figured someone else might also need the same comfort I get from it.

I have a lot of secrets. Trying out for my new school's football team disguised as a boy is only the beginning. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm developing a disturbing crush on a teammate. But that's not my worst secret. Nobody here knows I have a twin brother named Pax. Or that he died last year. And that I might be delusional because I see him and hear him, everywhere. Or maybe it's the guilt that haunts me. Because I know deep down that my father is the one who killed him. And keeping that secret somehow makes me complicit. The house next door goes up for sale, the dreaded day arrives in which its been sold and now the only thing left is to find out whose moving in. "Good news hunny the new neighbours are moving in today and I've invited them around for dinner" my mum said excitedly. "And I'm supposed to be excited because...." if my tone doesn't give it away, I'm not excited for new neighbours, my best friend lived in that house but after a tragic accident that took her life her parents decided to up and sell. "I appreciate that its hard but the Hunts are a lovely family and they have children one is slightly older than you and the other is a few months younger, and I suggest you play nice" my mum warned. "Are you joking me mum! no matter who moves in next door nothing will change, Lily is dead and no matter how friendly you are to the Hunts they will never replace Lily!" I shouted getting more and more angry as I vented. A thumb swiftly wiped the tear from my cheek that I hadn't even realised had fell, it was my dad. "Oh baby girl don't cry, it will all be okay, we don't want you to replace Lily but we do want you to be civil at least because what happened was not your fault or the Hunts okay" my dad cooed as he soothed me and sent me upstairs to get ready for the welcoming dinner.
