Lonely Nile

An elderly astronaut comes to visit Earth many years from now and finds nothing but destruction! He looks at the hauntingly unaware stars above and slowly remembers the beauty this destroyed planet once was, a bitter sweet memory takes him aback... A beautiful coast,the wind blowing softly and warm, a tall green cliff being bathed by the golden light of the last rays of sun, the warm and enchantingly lush grass tickling his bare feet. He sees himself as a young boy, watching the birds peacefully swarming under the orange sky as the sun sets one more time. "Where could I go to get away from you? He whispers. "You were the only thing I've ever known". He turns back to leave. Acute pain tears him apart. His heart is forced into believing what it sees, as he slowly walks into his spaceship achingly aware of everything he's lost, a tear slips down his face!!!
A tear... something ever so trivial yet infinitely heavy!
