"The most damaged, love the hardest." -Diana What if you lost the center of your universe to rape and murder? Kage Odonell was in this exact situation when he found himself holding the cold, dead body of a girl that meant the world to him. Needless to say, he was never the same again. Two years later, he's still trying to find the psychopath who ruined his life. He's got a lot of clues, and he's getting closer to the truth... but not nearly close enough. Diana Ackerman came to Seattle to escape a mentally abusive society and repressive parents. She thought getting away would free her, would help her start fresh, but some wounds aren't healed so easily. Love is non-existent on either of their mental lists, but what happens when Kage gives Diana self-defense classes and the latter is endlessly fascinated with her hot, moody teacher who is clearly hiding something? Can two people who are both damaged in very different ways be the ones to mend each others?

He asked and I looked up at his eyes. I didn't have to ponder over the matter long. "I don't know." I said softly. Daimen frowned and studied me for a while, "Just wondering, because you seem to love pissing me off. And most people don't. So I guess you need some figuring out to do." ********* Daimen and River were both seniors at the same high school, they took some of the same classes, walked the same halls, live in fair distance from each other, but they couldn't have been more different. When high school was over River and Daimen became ghosts to each other but then years later fate decides to bring them back together. River Sparrow hates confrontation. She's jumpy, but tries to see the bright side of situations. She's quiet, soft spoken, the "teacher's pet," and keeps to herself a lot. She's a volunteer at the local animal shelter and loves one dog in particular the most. Daimen Princeston would fight in a heartbeat. He's strong, intimidating, and pretty much has people running for the hills at the very aspect of him getting angry. His devil-may-care attitude swirls around him and no one wants to get on his bad side. Of course River is afraid of him, and she has a good right to be. But when River starts to learn more of the young man everyone fears she starts to see him in a new way. After some time feelings grow stronger and she hopes she's not fallen for a murderer. And if she has, who is she to deny him the love he so desperately needs?
