Christian (Chris) Carter has never felt so alone. So defeated.
His real mother died when he was 16. His father remarried a younger woman and a few years later, his sister, Callie, was born. When Callie was 3, her mother ran off, and Chris's father remained single.
Christian, now 29, is all alone with his now 16 year old sister. His father left them alone and ran off with another woman. Chris's job was to make sure that he and his sister survive together. Times had never been harder. Chris lost his job and does not have enough money to pay the rent for the apartment he and his sister share.
Things are about to get worse.
The government collapsed and society is falling apart. Chris and Callie's hometown has erupted into chaos. People are breaking in to other people's houses. Guns are firing. Brother turning on brother for to steal supplies. And even bombs detonate. No one can be trusted. In the wake of the chaos, Callie suddenly vanished in the middle of the night. And there's no trace of where she's gone. But there's more to his sister's disappearance then meets the eye.
But when invaders from across the boarder come to raid what little remains, they give no mercy to the ones who stand in their way and they are armed with advanced technology. With Callie missing, Chris decides to set off on foot with his only friend, Jack, and encounters Olivia LeClair, a runaway woman in search of freedom and meaning.
This dystopian society is doomed. There must be a new world somewhere, right?

But then again, they've never really paid much attention to their daughter unless they wanted something from her. Helen would rather live on the streets and eat out of garbage dumpsters then return to her parents and marry the man that would make her life a living hell. At least on the streets she's free. She might starve or freeze to death but she'll be free. Then one day three men come after her, intent on forcing her and beating her for what little she has. Before one of them does more than grab her arm the three are gone. Helen looks down and finds them on the ground with their hearts torn out of the bodies. Christian Coma and his family move from LA and away from everything he has ever known to small town Cincinnati to hopefully have a new start. But some things don't go as planned. He befriends a girl named Roku who leaves him with a warning of how cruel people can be at their school. He soon later meets the rest of her friends, but can they really befriend someone that hates his new home town and has a lot of things he is hiding from them. He tries to be friends with them but after one night, he tells them all that he can't hang with them, that he wants them to stay away from him. He ended up leaving all his new friends asking questions. What the hell happen in LA? What did he mean by 'they' would make his life hell? What is Christian hiding from everyone and why won't he let anyone help him? Sadly, things don't go Christian's way and when he slowly starts to open up to them, they all find out a deep dark past of this kid. It will put them all in danger. Will they live or die is the new questions. Who are these people after Christian and can they all get out alive? They will try everything even becoming a famous rock band and moving back to LA, but will that keep the darkness of Christian's past away from, them all? Or will it come down on them, and get someone killed. Guess you just have to read to find out how much of a horror story this can be. *evil smirk*Complete

This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room. Slowly the two begin to fall in love and Mariah tells him her story, and of the hidden danger that lies up the street from him.
