Shortly after the construction of Helios C (a small probe designed for picking up and relaying transmissions, both local and extraterrestrial), a cluster of spacejunk took out the primary source of power, a couple large solar panels. With the few days of battery life remaining however, Helios C relayed a strange broadcast. Because of this, the Department of Extraterrestrial affairs is funding an expedition to obtain more information regarding the unusual transmission. A small shuttle called the Ulysses will be sent to repair the probe, and another, larger, research shuttle will be sent shortly thereafter. In the small, cramped cockpit of the Ulysses is where my story begins.

The UES Saturnus is an experimental starship that has just set out on its maiden voyage. An enigmatic race known as the Edra has objected to the Saturnus and its experimental equipment. Earth has ignored their protests. "...this is Zulu-two-three... requesting assistance." Mallory and his men are the only ones close enough to deal with an extremely sensitive situation. "... I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it.
