Before his encounter with the Avengers, William was a depressed and temperamental spirit of magic. The Man in the Moon sees this, and requests (forces) that he take a vacation in a dimension of earth that, instead of mutants and high-tech superheroes, there are wizards. And it isn't just a normal vacation: he more or less is thrust into another warring world that William is compelled to save. But for the first time, he has friends that help him in more ways then one.
