Natsu was crushed. His father, Igneel, has suddenly returned just to be slain seemingly moments later (Tartaros Arc). He leaves the guild to become stronger so that he can protect his friends and family from being taken away from him. A year later, he returns to the guild, but everything is not as he had imagined.
