"There's no normal life…just life. Get on with it." — Doc Holliday [Tombstone]
Darmin had an average life…okay, not really average. More like below average teetering on the edge of poverty. But he had always been able to get along just fine. He learned to cope.
However, when he makes a one little, selfish decision, everything changes. This eighth grader finds himself with an incredible, supernatural ability…that he definitely didn't want to have. And he has to learn to keep it under control and hide it, from everyone, even his sister, Zoe, or else the government will take custody of him and turn him into a science experiment. Not a life he'd like to have.
All he has to do, is keep away from danger and he'll be fine. Piece of cake. Nevertheless, all things are easier said than done. As the days pass, Darmin isn't sure how long he will be able to keep this up.
And when danger comes straight to his school…will he be able to protect those he loves most?
Elliot's partner was his whole world, but after Allan's death, his ghost haunts Elliot's dreams. Everyone tells Elliot to move on, but he isn't sure he can.
*****
It's been a year since the love of Elliot's life, Allan, passed away. Everyone thinks he should have recovered after that much time, but Allan still haunts Elliot every night. He struggles to maintain relationships with his family, and despite a coworkers interest he can't summon up the courage to date. Elliot is living for the past, because to live for the present means he'll have to live with a hole in his heart. But the question Elliot has to face chases him through his monotonous days: is mourning Allan with everything he has truly living?
