Scott is now a member of Derek's pack, hence, by default, so is Stiles. Stiles wants the Sheriff, his department, and Scott's mom to be in it by extension. This creates a headache for Derek as the new Alpha.

It's okay. Stiles tells himself so he wouldn't freak out. But in reality it really wasn't. Erica and Boyd are dead. There's a monster in Beacon Hills. Derek is trying to keep everything together but Stiles can see he is suffering. Scott and the rest of the pack are pretending that they aren't terrified but he knows they are. And then to top everything off, Derek and Stiles get kidnapped by the monster and Derek gets hurt... badly.
