Yami never left, in fact the whole saving the world thing never happened. Yami and Yugi live in a distopic world, if you want to survive you have to fight, fight or die. Yami a prize fighter, is hurt when fighting another favorite, Joey, he's decide he's had enough, enough fighting, enough bloodshed, he makes plans for him and his little brother Yugi to escape, but even though they've escaped, running into other rouge fighters can not be good. Yami must do everything he can to make sure his old bosses don't get there hands on Yugi, Yugi is the only family he has left, there mom died in childbirth, and there father was a fighter too, but he didn't come back. Yugi's only 1 year old, Yami's 15. training begins once you turn 2, better hurry Yami.
I do not approve of Yaoi, so this is not Yaoi

Yami is finding it difficult being away from everyone and now has returned to being Atem. A few years has passed and Yami finally has a mirror into Yugi's world and is able to see what he is up to. Unfortunately it isn't going well with Yugi as he is not the happy teen he used to be.
