Dragon Pendants are rare amulets that hold the soul and form of a dragon. Most people carry these pendants or sell them without knowing their true value or power. They are thought to be amulets of protection but few know how true that can be. The pendants only react to certain wearers. If the pendant has accepted a wearer it will change colors based on their moods and in certain circumstances if the wearer is in grave enough danger the dragon will come forth and protect the one who wears the pendant.

Shayael lost her home, family, friends, and childhood on the day she turned ten all in one fell swoop when her village was destroyed. Reme, a traveling warrior discovered her and took her in. They traveled together and during that time he tried to teach her that she should be happy that she should find happiness. So on her fifteenth birthday he gave her a pendant. A dragon pendant, the size of a fist. A black dragon is coiled around and chained to a tear shaped black stone....

Tragedy strikes Shayael again when the one person she had left in the world is taken from her. What will happen to her? What happens when she is saved by a stranger that appeared from thin air, that looks different from normal, and makes her feel strangely safe? What happens when she discovers the true power of the Dragon Pendant?

A New Beginning: Tessa's Story by CrystalScherer
55 parts Complete
Optional sequel to Upon Wings Of Change. (This is a version with *JUST* Tessa's POV (different from the main version, which has 3 POVs. Was my attempt to revise the slower pacing, but I'm not sure how well it worked, but since I put in the work, here it is.) Summary: The dragonets are flourishing; both those in the park and those helping the Kymari. As the first dragonets to hatch in the Kymari civilization, Tessa and her brother are paving a new path as they grow up and learn how to fit into the world. New beginnings are often great things, but sometimes shadows from the distant past come calling. Excerpt: I braced my feet against the wall as I pulled. Suddenly, the lever swung downward. I lost my grip and tumbled backward. I landed on my side and slid across the counter. My legs and tail flailed as I tried to get to my feet or slow down-but I didn't manage it in time. Almost in slow motion, my feet went off the counter as I slid into the air. Without thinking, my wings popped open and beat hard as I twisted, trying to turn right side up so I could fly properly. I blinked in shock when I realized I was already flying upward. Grinning triumphantly, I beat my wings again and went back to the counter. Pleased with my flying abilities, I proudly landed on the counter - and forgot to slow down, which promptly sent me sliding across the slippery surface, lightly colliding with the glass door. I ducked my head sheepishly, glad no one else had seen that. My eyes locked onto the gap between the glass doors. With an eager grin, I pressed my shoulder against the edge and pushed. My feet struggled to find traction, but it was opening! Once I pushed the door far enough, I scampered over to the cantaloupe. It was much bigger up close. I blinked slowly, trying to think about how I was going to move it. There was no way I'd be able to lift it. It was round though. Round things could roll, right?

Wild Dogs [Draft - Beta readers welcome!]

4 parts Ongoing

After a faulty ritual on her twelfth birthday destroyed her life and shattered her memories, Soojin began running and never stopped. The only clue as to what happened is a gift her parents gave her as a child, and the promise that came with it. A wooden pendant with the power to summon a "friend" the day she turned twelve. Someone she is still waiting to meet... and trying desperately to find. It doesn't take long for Soojin to realize that this person is only one thread in a larger web, and that pulling it will begin to unravel the truth of what happened all those years ago. Her parents' promise wasn't the only one she carried from that day, either. Something else made a promise to her too... the same thing that's been chasing her, and the reason that she's running. But maybe it's all worth it, if it means finally understanding. And her birthday is just around the corner. PLEASE NOTE: This is my FIRST DRAFT, mostly edited but definitely not entirely polished. Consider yourself a beta reader and chosen for the glorious purpose of witnessing disaster take shape into art. Thank you!!
