When her family has been wiped from the world, and usurpers rule a kingdom that is rightfully hers, a warrior is given the opportunity of a lifetime. If she can kill the Queen, can fool the court into thinking she's someone she's not, and if she can make it to her wedding day without being discovered, she will become the Queen and claim everything that is owed to her by birthright. But something ancient dwells in the dungeons-something she didn't think she would find in it: an ally. When her subjects start dying, and her kingdoms are plagued by natural disasters and dark forces, Arynn is made to face a choice that could alter the course of history. And when everything she has ever worked for comes crumbling down around her, one thing is made clear: the gods should not interfere.

When a man who lives in poverty tries to rob a young king of his wealth, he is caught. Unexpectedly, the lonely king takes him in as his bodyguard and companion. The king fights to win the friendship of the man, but may end up winning more than that... if his newfound friend doesn't murder him first of course. And while they're distracted, a new and incredibly dangerous king is rising to power. If not stopped, he may take over all six kingdoms and leave them all for dead, even if it means destroying the careful balance in which their world exists. While they deal with their own problems, far bigger ones are stirring, and it may just be too late to stop it... Two star-crossed lovers, six kingdoms, and man threatening to tear everything apart. The line between what is moral and what is cruel is blurring.
