"I thought that you actually cared about me and loved me. Turns out you thought I was some type of fake? You thought of me as something to be investigated?"

"No. That's not what this was."

"Then what was it? Some type of social experiment? Is that all I am to you? A social experiment?"

"You know that you mean more to me than that."

"No, I don't know that. I don't know what I know anymore. The last couple months of my life have been a complete lie. It's people like you that are the reason that I don't trust anyone."

After senior year, William finds himself living across the hall in an apartment complex from a shy man named Alexander. When the two finally meet, they both realize that they're polar opposites. But it allows Alex's walls to slowly disappear. And that begins to allow the boys to become more than friends. Until one of them finds out news that questions everything about what they truly know about each other.

BOOK ONE Coming out was supposed to set Julian free. Instead, it left him with a broken arm, a mother who won't stop preaching, and a silence that grows heavier every day. High school feels like a cage, and Julian is certain he doesn't belong anywhere-until Paul crashes into his world. With his inked skin, effortless charm, and a following that makes him untouchable, Paul should be the last person Julian lets close. But in Paul's arms, Julian feels something he's never known before: safe. As their connection deepens, so does the danger. Loving Paul means risking exposure, rejection, and heartbreak all over again. Worse, it means facing the cruelest voice of all-the one inside Julian's own head. Tender, raw, and unflinching, Open is a story about first love, first heartbreak, and finding the courage to believe you're worthy of both. ::: I could feel it when his body finally went slack, when he'd fallen asleep and soft snores emitted. And I thought I was getting better at this breaking down thing... I honestly did but when I was alone, I seemed to fall apart. Endless serenades of how worthless I'd been and how destructive I was; I was a disappointment to literally everyone and I hated it. My breathing became shallow as I cried for the second time that day, finally feeling content being immersed in guilt. A shudder wracked through my body, tears escaping and Paul pulled me closer as he woke silently. Mumbling soft nothings against my skin and kissing it to slow my breathing, he tried to lull me to sleep, "It's okay, you're okay." Refusing to speak -my voice failing me- his arm came up to wrap around my shoulder and I held him there, placing a small kiss to his tattooed skin in a broken sign of gratitude, I must've run out of tears. And I felt at ease.

Once Caleb reached the bottom of the stairs he quietly opened the door and tiredly switched on the light "Jayden it isn't morning yet buddy you need to-" he froze in place staring at a man he didn't know standing in his living room. The man stared back at him like a deer in the headlights, he looked a few years older than Caleb, had stubble growing around his face, dark brown greasy hair that wasn't styled in any particular way and was wearing full black aside from the muddy navy blue trainers he was sporting. "Who the fuck are you and what are you doing here?" Caleb demanded in a hushed whisper, he also noticed the black backpack the stranger was carrying and the open living room window he'd clearly used to gain entry, the vase that was previously rested on the windowsill lay in pieces on the ground, that must've been the crash that had awoken Caleb from his tranquil slumber. "Just a passerby, no one much" the strange man whispered back an air of mystery hanging about his every word. "Inside my living room?" Caleb replied folding his arms and sizing the man up, after his beating earlier in the evening he wasn't exactly fighting fit, the intruder was also taller and muscly, there's no way Caleb would win if it came to a fight. "Consider me Santa Claus alright? Now go back to bed kid" the man answered calmly pointing at the door as if Caleb was a child. "I'm not a little kid anymore, I'm 18. Santa isn't real" Caleb responded harshly taking a step forward, the man noticeably took a step towards the window eyeing Caleb up with a smirk. The room was pitch black but I could still see his handsome face. And even if I were put in a crowd and blindfolded, I would still be able to find him. His musky scent wafted across the bed to my nose. My favorite scent in the world. His eyes were on my face and I stared back. It felt like we were communicating with our eyes. Mine was saying "why won't you love me back?" and I was sure that his was saying "why is this dork staring at me?". At the sad thought I closed my eyes and took solace in the silence in the room, calming my raging emotions and fighting the threatening tears. I was half successful when I heard his deep voice. My eyes fluttered open at once as if they had been waiting for him to speak. "I'm sorry for what I said about you earlier" "It's fine" I managed to croak "I was scared and confused but not anymore" I did not understand what he meant. I looked at his face at the other side of the bed trying to decipher what he was trying to say but his face was blank. "Goodnight Marco" he said and closed his eyes. I lay in the same position, looking at the now sleeping figure. I was confused and curious. What do you mean by not anymore? I asked in my mind as if he could somehow hear me. But he couldn't. And I wasn't brave enough to ask. Afraid that my heart would be shattered again by the same person I had fallen madly in love with. The only person my soul longed for. The only person my body lusted for. I lay in that position, watching him sleep till my eyes gave up and closed on their own. ****************************************************** VOTE
