Kayla Marie Holmes has been in an adoption centre for three years. She has battled with depression, eating disorders, and bullying and has remained strong but only thanks to the help of her friend Lucy. Kayla has lost all hope of getting adopted because all of the people looking to adopt want somebody younger, somebody prettier, somebody whose not broken. On one Thursday during the adoption hours Kayla has hidden herself away in a dark corner of the adjacent room and gets a visit from a very special guest who just happens to be her idol.
