I faced the stables my eyes traveling to my new pegasus then I turned and looked back at the quiet Roman city. The statue of Bacchus stood peering at me with cold stone eyes. I turned back to the stables, my brain was fighting one side telling me to go the other side telling me to stick to my duties and stay. I had always followed rules, always taken punishment without complaint, and always done what is best for others before myself but tonight, with the stone eyes of Bacchus searing holes in my back I mounted my Pegasus. And I swear that I heard Venus, or maybe it was Aphrodite, whisper in my ear.
