Lucy was left alone when she was eleven and her kingdom, Salancia,was attacked. Her family was killed and she's the only one to escape- and the soldiers who organized the attack are still looking for her. Poor Lucy was forced into hiding, forced to change her appearance and find work to support herself. 
One day, on her way to the well to fetch some water. She gets kidnapped and treated harshly, then finally sold into slavery when she's only 16. A castle guard picks her, and a few other peasants to work at the castle of the Dragneels in Magnolia. 

But what they don't know, is that she's the heartfilia's very own, lost. Princess.
