Ice is a strange thing: if you are too gentle in approach the frost will bite you, but if you are too strong the ice can shatter. It was a paradox within itself, to be able to cause such harm but be just as vulnerable to the same happening to you.

Brenton Dawkins was the current reigning alpha of a strong pack, but if he failed to make some serious changes the pack would be strong no more. They ran blindly with his orders, most of the pack had never even caught a glimpse let alone met him. This detachment from his people is the cause of the packs vulnerability emerging. The ignorant would name him blind, but he was well aware of his faults. Even so no change seemed to be in the near future to keep his people safe.

They say it is because his heart is encased in glacé.

And who was to mess with that?

Ice is a special thing and for that a special type of person with a rare ability is required to balance on the delicate edge of not being to malleable but also not made of stone.

Elara Soldatova was happy enough to start college in the misty mountains of Washington state. She would be away from everything and everyone she had ever known, but the idea of a completely new atmosphere was what excited her most.
