Something emotional I wrote to begin work on a Sonic/Highlander AU where Tails' adoptive mother is an immortal. It's based on the forgone conclusion that she would inevitability outlive him and all his friends, and thus is a short monologue from her as she says goodbye and reflects on their time spent together one last time.

Being the byproduct of their love, she wanders earth searching for her purpose. Surely her mother didn't send her down here with the mortals for no reason. Perhaps it was to send her to her father. Luna the Fox has had a hard life. After her step-dad kills her mother in front of her, she is forced to live with him in his evil base for nearly ten years. Luna knows that her step-dad would be after her soon, and she doesn't want to hurt her friends. Even if it means hurting herself in the process.
