I ran as fast as I could, taking the stairs three at a time. I heard a crashing sound of a bottle hitting the wall. I knew he would be behind me soon. I slid around the corner and burst through my bedroom door, shutting and locking it. Right then I slid down the door and cried. Why me? I wiped my face with my hoodie sleeve and crossed the room to my desk. I opened my small notebook and wrote a tally on the page. This was the second book I had filled. I tossed the book in a box and took note to get another one. Right then I heard a slamming on the door and screaming.
I got frantic and thought. Just like the book. The only option is the window...

I screamed. He threw a plate at my face and blood trickled down my chest. I ran into the kitchen, trying to escape. He grabbed me and slung me into the wall. I hit my head and everything became a blur. I yelled in pain and grabbed the closest thing I could reach and threw it at him. A shoe. I screamed as he grabbed me, natural instincts got me kicking at the monster behind the mask, but he threw me against the wall.
