"“And the second thing?” I asked. He looked away from me and shook his head wistfully. “Hey, don’t leave me hanging, Calum, you promised.”
“I never promised anything.” He argued.
“Spit it out or I swear, I will-
“I think I’m in love with you.”"

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! "Loving you is exhausting and hard. Give me a freaking break." he said. "Then why are you still here?", she whispered with a pale and trembling voice, holding back the tears that were willing to fall down her cheeks. Laura never wanted to fall in love with someone she couldn't touch - someone who only existed behind a screen, a voice borne by time zones and poor connections. But Evan made distance seem hazardous. He made every silence burn. "You could've stopped talking to me." she said to him once. "I tried," he said. "You just wouldn't leave my fucking head." Somewhere in between their late-night phone calls and the words they never spoke, something real started to take shape - delicate, wrong, and beautiful. But love such as theirs was going to shatter. It was constructed on waiting, on jealousy, on all the things they couldn't have. And maybe that's the cruelest kind of love - the kind that feels infinite, but ends the moment you wake up. Until Aiden walked in - the man who was real, present, and everything Evan couldn't be. Aman who had actually been beside her even when she broke his heart, even when she drifted away to chase someone who made her heart ache in ways she never imagined. "He doesn't deserve you. please wake up Lau." Aiden told her. "Then why does it still feel like he's the one?" she whispered. "You're crazy." Somewhere between what she wanted and what she needed, Laura lost control. Between time zones and heartbreak, between messages and memories, something between them had shattered. Because sometimes, love doesn't ask you to choose between two people - it asks you to choose which part of yourself you're willing to destroy.

Our Lives Have Changed

39 parts Complete Mature

It's funny how something can go from so perfect to so wrong in just a blink of an eye. Everything you once held close to your heart is now gone forever. Then once it's gone all you are left with is questions; What could I have done to prevent this? What did I do wrong? Did my significant other love me at all? And no matter how bad you push the questions out of your mind they always seem to come back up, and at the worst times too. When you're finally done with it and you feel as if you can move on the questions pop back up causing you to miss that person. It's the worse cycle ever and we all know it as Heartbreak, and out of all those questions there is one question that will stick out from all the others...how long is forever? (Third book in the My Life Has Changed series)
