In some other reality, Kaitou Kid is not Kaito Kuroba, but Sagaru Hakuba!  When Hakuba's father dies under suspicious circumstances after the police investigation of a crime organization, Sagaru discovers his father was secretly Kaitou Kid.  Unable to understand why a member of the police department would also be a thief, Hakuba takes up his father's mantle and becomes the new Kaitou Kid.

Written as part of the Poirot Cafe's 15th theme contest for Detective Conan/Magic Kaito fanfic.  The theme was AU, and I used the optional prompt of role swap.
