In the distant future, life on Earth is mysteriously coming to an end. To ensure that the last of mankind dies out in a peaceful and civilized manner, the authoritarian Elders manage both dwindling resources and human lives in a strict quota system. Yet none of their precise calculations could have predicted the Throwback Effect — the impending extinction is triggering the young men in their society to revert to a primitive state of pure survival instinct.

Liam, a supply pilot, and Lily, the daughter of the Head Elder, are childhood sweethearts. After discovering that Lily has been ordered into Involuntary Suicide by her own father, Liam leads a group of Throwback rebels in trying to conquer and colonize a suspiciously Earth-like planet covertly protected by the Elders’ Council. Little does Liam know that he’s disrupting an ancient cycle that will prove catastrophic for both planets — and his future with Lily.

Note from author: This is the first completed novel I'd ever written. I submitted it to publishers, got a revise and resubmit from a major house that didn't work out, and moved onto other projects. Now, a few books later, I woke up one day and decided it's time to give it another go. I'll be re-editing the original manuscript in segments with skills I didn't possess before, and post them here on a regular basis. Enjoy and please let me know what you think of it :) There's just something about this story that speaks to my heart, and I'm so honored to share it with you.

Memories Stirred - Book One of the Advent Rebellion by mobewan
3 parts Complete
Legends say the Advents just appeared, perched over Earth gazing down in perpetual judgment. Six powerful ruptures in space that should have solved Humanity’s problems through their access to a limitless energy supply. Two galaxy spanning wars later people have turned towards the rigidity, structure and safety offered by the Five Corporations, each one bound to it’s responsibilities for society by the Legislature Exemplars. Humanity has finally won a hard fought peace. Everyone is born into a life as dictated by the needs of all. Careers are defined for them, they are trained for them, they work towards their ultimate potential as judged for them, and they all serve willingly. Almost all of them anyway. Thrain Attandee has always wanted to know more than is good for him. More than is accepted as good for society in general. After pushing the authorities too far one last time, he disappears and discovers that sometimes you should be careful what you wish for. Meanwhile Morgan, a career orientated associate on the fast track to make Executive, has her own life turned upside down as she reluctantly joins the hunt for Thrain. Working with the frustrating Mr Jones who seems thrown out of time, she will be forced to face the price humanity has had to pay for peace. ----------------------------- This is an ongoing sci fi serial which I'll be adding a new chapter to each week (every Sunday). Book One is looking like 38-40k words, probably around 16-18 chapters. I would love to hear what you think about the story - whether it be feedback, questions or even suggestions. The aliens came here for one thing, and one thing only.... Females. ( This story is only available through inkitt or galatea!!!) (some read events may apply) (check update chapter for more details!) Humans believed they were the only intelligent life to exist... that it was impossible for another species to evolve in a way where they could prevail in something as great as space travel. humans believed they were supposed to be the most technologically advanced species and the alpha predators... They were wrong. The Xandisians evolved in ways humans never could have imagined, they are natural-born killers with phenomenal strength and agility. Their kind never went through the same devolution as humans, they never lost their natural instincts to hunt, kill, or breed. With their limitless potential and monstrous strength, they faced few threats and could survive almost any threat that befall their species, almost. After an incurable sickness washes over the planet of xanadis, the majority of the female, young and elderly, and vulnerable population is all but wiped out, leaving a small portion of the male population to face the threat of extinction. With no choice but to look to the stars for a means to save their kind from complete annihilation, the xandisians set out to find a race compatible with their own. after many years and countless failed expeditions, they finally find a species that matches their base DNA on a planet called Earth. The only issue now is how humans will react. It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Before the Fall: Rebirth of the Cannon Fodder by Karekarea
20 parts Complete
She was never meant to survive the story. Qi Yue was just a forgotten name in a tragic novel-a fake daughter, cannon fodder, a girl who died early in a zombie apocalypse no one remembered. But when Lin Yue, a terminally ill girl from the real world, awakens in Qi Yue's body one year before the world falls, she refuses to meet the same end. Armed with foreknowledge of the plot and a mysterious space-type system called AURA, she breaks away from her twisted adoptive family, escapes the shadows of her past, and begins rewriting her fate-brick by brick, bullet by bullet. In a world collapsing under viral mutation and human greed, Qi Yue rises from pawn to player. With cold intelligence and burning compassion, she builds safe zones, tames the wasteland, trains warriors, and uncovers the devastating truth behind the virus-and her own existence. Alongside loyal allies like the reserved but unwavering Shen Jin, she fights back against corrupted power, monstrous mutations, and the very authors of the apocalypse. But survival is never enough. As war ignites and enemies close in, AURA evolves into something more than a system-it becomes family. When the final choice comes, it's not about who wins, but what you're willing to sacrifice for the world you want to protect. From forgotten cannon fodder to commander of humanity's last hope-this is the story of a girl who was never supposed to matter, and how she rewrote the end.
