Alison Lawrence is a schizophrenic, bipolar teen who is depressed, lonely and insane. She's tried to kill herself several times, but she failed, feeling that life has no meaning. Until she meets a boy with disheveled hair, chiseled jaws and an insane look in his eyes. The two bond over their misery, and slowly but surely Alison discovers what it is to love; but when Alison opens her eyes she realizes her true love was a figment of her imagination. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more.
