Veda finds herself on board of a huge spaceship heading towards a new world.
The only escape from boredom is the VR environment that its makers created to simulate the passengers' life on Earth. Vital for the system is that everybody disconnects before sleep sets in.
Veda is a rather cynic bookshop owner that is able to exploit the possibilities of the VR to its fullest. Her mentor on board is Rimmer, a stuck-up fighter pilot who takes life much too seriously. Kira is an engineer that is specialised in rocket propulsion and was forced to join the mission involuntarily. She is mentored by the peculiar commander of the ship, Zach, who never shows himself. Taylor and Tate are doctors and identical twins. They leapt at the opportunity of some new adventure and are dedicated to make the life of every male onboard miserable.
All except Kira settle in quite nicely and simply continue their work and pleasures as they were before joining the space program. However, when the children on board show a rapid alteration in sleeping patterns in response to the VR, a series of events is set into action that threatens the life of everybody when their dream state forces the ship to alter its course to an unknown destination. Can our group reinstate the ships’ original course and avert catastrophe without killing one another?

Kira Villarreal was just a regular seventeen-year-old, living an ordinary life in a sleepy town-until the night that shattered everything. What was supposed to be a fun party with her three best friends quickly descends into chaos when gunshots ring out, and in the middle of the panic, something unimaginable happens. As a bullet hurtles toward her friend, time slows, and with a surge of raw power, Kira stops the shot in midair. That night, Kira and her friends' lives change forever. They soon discover they're far from normal teenagers. Each of them harbors a unique, untapped power, and together, they're something far more significant-the "Keys," beings destined to unlock the gateway between the human and magical realms. But with great power comes even greater danger. Hunted by ancient enemies, rogue sorcerers, and forces that want to use-or destroy-them, Kira and her friends are thrust into a world of magic and peril, where every choice they make could tip the balance of two worlds. As they grow into their powers, they must learn to trust each other and face challenges that will test their bond, their courage, and their very identities. Each revelation uncovers a new layer of the mystery behind their existence, but the deeper they go, the darker it gets. Old loyalties are questioned, secrets are unearthed, and sacrifices will have to be made. Can Kira keep her friends-and herself-alive as the weight of saving both worlds falls on their shoulders? Or will the darkness close in, forcing them to choose between survival and their humanity? With action, unexpected humor, and devastating twists at every turn, this is Kira's journey, where magic, danger, and friendship collide in ways no one saw coming.

A dystopian young adult novel involving romance, secret experiments on human subjects, and a group of teenagers' will to survive. Reader Comments: "I'm gonna gush about your book real quick...all the technology has a purpose and is beautifully explained so I can picture it in my mind...the whole concept of the book is completely original...*moment of silence for your beautiful arch of character development* everything your characters do is strictly them but they develop enough to show more about themselves without you straight up telling the reader about them" -Vairl9023 "Ahh!!! This is so good!! I will be anxiously awaiting the next Chapter!!" -CrystalBagot "Brilliant...ohh, this is very catchy, good work" -IndeeMaynard "I love this so far" -BrianneMorris "You've done a great job at creating a mysterious mood" -poisonedpen *** All Evita Creedy, 17, wants is to finish her degree and be accepted for a prestigious job with the city's Department of Energy.
