A looming cloud of war hangs in the civilized world of Flussel. Two major powers stare each other down: Cordero and Tarleton. The people involved in this sort of world war must fight to survive or die trying. These are their stories and the price war will bring to them.

Rudos, a blether who was created in a Cordero factory, learns he's rather different compared to his peers who are bland in personality. Turns out his makers aren't fond of letting blethers have any kind of free thinking.

Private James Camden, a simple farm boy who was sent out by conscription due to Tarleton law. Turns out his first post on the Cordero-Tarleton border isn't the safest. Being a soft-hearted young man, being gentle on the battlefield is certainly no way to be.

Aaron Whitacre, a Tarleton general who's career seems to be blooming until he finds a Corderus general who puts his pride and confidence to the test.

Many more lives will be affected but most importantly, only those who can stand their ground will remain to see the end of this "Gentleman's War."

***COMPLETED!!!*** ---- Everyone has secrets... Vincent, Viscount Thorne, perfected his wicked grin and his good-humored mask years ago. He has no time for fools. Or that fickle emotion, love. The ton is full of sheep blindly walking into heartbreak. After all, he had ruined his best friend's little sister for love only to have ripped away from him. Thorne had no choice but to leave her waiting that night in the garden. It was his only choice. So, why does he still regret it so damned much? Especially now, when the lady in question reenters society, scarred but hardly broken. The Duke of Burkeley - that pompous, uptight wanker - declares himself her fiancee, and Thorne finds he will do whatever necessary to keep her out of that prig's clutches. A wager is in order. He'll find her a better bridegroom and then let her go. If only he could. ...but eventually, even the best kept secrets come out... Lady Georgianna is done hiding. So what, the love of her life left her waiting for hours in a darkened garden? So what, the fire chose that evening to entrap her, leaving her face burned? She dares anyone to place her into an imposed exile. Once was enough. With the Duke as her betrothed - the most arrogant and influential of them - Georgie will finally have everything she wanted within her grasp. Well, if Thorne hadn't intervened once more with his ridiculous talk of wagers. Suddenly, Georgie's in a game she can't afford to lose. But, what if she wins? ...Until everything comes crashing down... By season's end, the masquerade ball reveals more than their masked faces. It's a blazing unveiling that trumps even Beau Brummel's exile. The question remains. Will it lead to their ultimate ruination? Or might it just be their salvation? *** UPDATES: Irregular, but I'm going to try for every Friday! Sir Lancelot, his faithful First Knight. Guinevere, Arthur's promised bride. Garreth, her best friend and cousin, the son of Merlin (Myrddin), the great wizard. It sounds just like the Arthurian Legend, doesn't it? But... What if everything happened differently? What if the young Princess Guinevere was not so keen on marrying Prince Arthur, whom she met... when he came for a week-long sightseeing tour to her father's kingdom accompanied by dashing Sir Lancelot? What if she was... dressed as a knight, pretending to be a bodyguard hired for the visitors? And... What if it was 'a she', who was destined to pull the sword from the stone and thus unite the kingdoms? This is my version, a humorous retelling of the famous legend, a medieval fantasy- coming of age- romantic comedy. *This story is purposely historically innacurate, set in some parallel, fantastical Britain that is different from what it had really been in the past, even though I'm using real locations, historically confirmed battles, and the Saxons as enemies of my legendary King Arthur. *UNDERGOING EDITING AND SMALL CHANGES RANKED #1 IN #DADSBESTFRIEND TROPE My gaze was fixed on Weston, wanting to look away so he didn't see me but unable to, and so when he whipped his head in my direction, he looked me square in the eyes. I was painfully aware of how I was sitting on Dego's lap, his arm around my waist, mine around his neck. I couldn't move, couldn't breathe, and he didn't either for several time stopping seconds. Then he slowly took a step in my direction, and kept walking until he was standing directly in front of Dego and I. •~•~•~•~•~•~••~~• Two years ago Avery Blackwood's father met and married a demure Sunday school teacher, who, within a matter of months, spent his entire savings and completely wiped out everything he'd done over the years, wrapping up the whole thing by having an affair. Her father divorced the woman, but it was too late to save the families finances, and before they could even begin to get back on their feet, Daniel Blackwood is deployed to the middle east, leaving Avery with her wealthy cousins to try and acclimate to an environment foreign to the one she was raised in. The pressure builds until Avery makes the choice to leave, her destination over halfway across the country; her brothers ranch in southeastern Colorado. The only obstacles-she has fifty dollars to her name and no car, and her controlling aunt standing in the way. Influenced by a childhood of war and action movies, Avery, armed with a bowie knife and determination, simply heads out the back door and doesn't look back. She isn't expecting her envisioned trek across America to end so soon; a chance meeting with a family friend and neighbor who feels responsible for his friends daughter causes her to alter her plans. Within the few days she is with Weston Travers, she falls for him, and falls hard, but falling in love with someone ten years her senior may not have the fairytale ending every girl dreams about. This story is also being posted on RoyalRoad.com On the western shores of Kliskorios, a King sits without an heir. With his three children unwilling to allow each other to sit upon the throne, and a realm unable to decide the legal successor, the Kingdom of Teleytaios, strongest of the Heptarchy, stands on the brink of civil war, vultures circling all the while. King Cordan's bastard son has proven himself in battle and rulership both in the last half a decade, though the coming challenges will put to test even the greatest of his efforts. After all, to kill an enemy is one thing, but what about his own siblings? There is no man as accursed as the kinslayer, so the saying goes. The royal daughter, ever a staunch traditionalist and dangerous opponent, stacks the cards and the court in her favour whilst her brothers, bastard and trueborn both, waste away far from the capital. With the masses of dispossessed lords and ladies of the kingdom at her beck and call, there are few who find themselves outside of her reach. The King's trueborn son, widely regarded as being mad and violent, will act as the wildcard in the coming feud. Whoever he chooses to support will surely triumph, though perhaps there is more to the youngest prince than meets the eye? But there is more to the rising tensions than a simple succession crisis. Ancient things are waking up the world over; Brythonic sailors let slip the things they have glimpsed in the Ouroborisian Sea in Anarian taverns, and the whispers of gutter rats and holy men alike tell of a cult long thought dead hiding in plain sight. And then there are the findings of the King's own bastard son in the northern reaches of the kingdom. When these threads coincide, fate may find itself rewritten by mortal hands for the first time since time immemorial.
