Second No More, a novel
I've dreamed of the perfect marriage ever since I was a little girl: a marriage complete with a hardworking husband while I tended to the home and our children, preferably four little rugrats to call my own. I dreamed of a life filled with laughter, joy, and success, a life we built together. I dreamed of growing old next to my husband, creating a great love story to tell our grandchildren someday. It all seemed so possible. I was raised to be the perfect wife, after all. From the outside, it seemed I had exactly what I dreamed of with the rich, determined husband; the brilliant, gaudy diamond ring; and the beautiful home filled with the hope of future children. Yes, it was all a dream come true. I should have felt grateful, really. The problem is, I also wanted a marriage based on love, passion, and affection, but those are the only things my husband cannot give me . . . . . . because they're reserved for her. METAMORPHOSIS
If you have to take drastic action to solve a problem, you have to do something basic and extreme to solve it. **** The scientific term metamorphosis isn't something that pertains to physical change alone. It goes deeper than that. "Like how deep?" You might be wondering. Well, it can go in immensely deep. To the point were...A person. One you've grown to know right from childhood. For practically ALL YOUR LIFE. Probably as well as the back of your hand. To seem...entirely different! From what they used to be. Or rather, who you thought they truly were. Then again! I believe it only goes to show us the full spectrum of human behavior. It reveals something quietly laiden within ourselves. Our TRUE selves. So reason deeply, and tell me, What do you believe? **** "Er..I believe that...the term, holds a certain kind of eminence. N'that, whomever we are, be us young or old, everyone, everywhere! is susceptible to equal, unparalleled change! Besides, don't the most beautiful things come from the most unlikely places?" **** Everyone has their own views and opinions. Still, they all seem to forget the most important thing. They forget that CHANGES can be for good, AND for bad. It can bring the beautiful AND the ugly. It can pave a path of light OR darkness. Just because a chrysalis is breaking open, that doesn't mean a magical butterfly is gonna come fluttering out! These people FORGET! That moths? They go through the same stages too. But you? Do you believe people do change? Or are you under the impression that they don't? Or...is it the changes people can go through that is hard to believe? Evolution
There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. I am putting this out for the whole world to see because I hope everyone will learn from my experience. People can see. We have no excuses to continue living our lives in ignorance. ...WARNING... Hi, my name is Melissa. I've never considered myself a strong person, but I didn't realize that at the time. I always struggled to keep a job, never really understanding why happiness seemed so elusive. I thought I was content, unaware that I was, in fact, struggling. I know what you might be thinking, but please, keep reading. Something happened to me during my first year of working at 16 that changed my life forever. It hurt me in ways I couldn't fully comprehend, and while that pain has lessened over time, it shaped the person I've become-someone stronger than I ever imagined I could be. What I thought would destroy me instead pushed me to move to another country, a place where I barely knew the language. At just 24 years old, despite my parents' concerns and their insistence that I shouldn't go alone, I embarked on this journey by myself. Up until then, I had often hidden behind my parents, relying on them to face the world for me. But the events of my past forced me to confront life head-on.
