He attempts to ignore his own suffering, for the sake of Charles, who has lost everything; his sister, his best friend, and the use of his legs. The presence of Sean and Alex brings little comfort, and they too eventually leave. But slowly, somehow, people have heard of the manor being a safe place, and Hank finds himself yet again surrounded by people, Charles seems to welcome this with open arms; even as Hank reverts back to old ways of becoming a shut in. Not that that lasts long before Charles eventually persuades him to leave the manor, to see the world and what it has now become, no way did Charles ever expect that Hank would end up meeting someone, a girl, while on one of his many forced outings.
