Michael and Charlotte, a young, happily married couple, are overjoyed to discover that they will soon be parents. That all changes, however, when their baby girl is stillborn. Devastated, Charlotte finds solace in her art while Michael chooses to drink himself to oblivion. He blames his wife for the baby's death and starts to abuse and rape her. As a result, she falls pregnant once again and gives birth to a healthy baby girl, Alice.

Abused and molested by her father from a young age, Alice's life existed in chaos and suffering. Listening to her mother scream was such a continuous occurrence that she had learned to tune it out. Pain was so constant that she had forgotten what it felt like to be unbroken.

Can Alice find her happy ever after or are those just fiction?
