sneak peak from chapter 1, if you like read my book!
I am a normal teenage girl, named Arden I am sixteen years old except for the fact that I had been to 5 foster homes in the last 10 months, the reason was always the same, I was to "special" to be taken care of. When I was 8 I was diagnosed with ADD, anxiety, and depression. Every time that I was in a situation that was pressured I would shut down for a period of time. I was never quite sure how long I shut down for but whenever I came out of that shut down state I would be moved to another foster home, I tried ever so hard to not shut down, but it is uncontrollable, I was just not sure how to stop it. It is the middle of October and is starting to get really cold. Right now I was in the same black car with the same social worker, driving to another foster home, right as I drove up to the house I whispered to myself
"Number 6" I said with a grimace on my face
"What was that dear?" my social worker said
"Nothing" I said with a fake smile plastered on my face.
We drove through some really nice gates and into this really fancy looking neighborhood, you know the ones that are huge and all look the same.
"Wow, um are you sure we are in the right place?" I ask my social worker
The car stopped in front of one of the nicest looking houses I have ever seen.
"Here we are" my social worker announced.
My eyes widened, this is the house I was going to be staying at? Wow it was beautiful and that was only the outside.
"Come on Arden" my social worker said with crossed arms and tapping her foot.
I had realized that I had been staring out into space again. We walk up the doorsteps and ring the doorbell;
Elliot's partner was his whole world, but after Allan's death, his ghost haunts Elliot's dreams. Everyone tells Elliot to move on, but he isn't sure he can.
*****
It's been a year since the love of Elliot's life, Allan, passed away. Everyone thinks he should have recovered after that much time, but Allan still haunts Elliot every night. He struggles to maintain relationships with his family, and despite a coworkers interest he can't summon up the courage to date. Elliot is living for the past, because to live for the present means he'll have to live with a hole in his heart. But the question Elliot has to face chases him through his monotonous days: is mourning Allan with everything he has truly living?
