My name is Penny Locks and I am 17 years old. Currently, I'm living in none other than DowntownDetroit, Michigan. Great city right? Not really. Well, not my neighborhood. It isn't the...safest neighborhood. At all. I guess you could say I live in the ghetto. My mom left my dad, little sister and me about four years ago for a rich man from upstate. Now I'm working a part time job and my dad is working 2 full time jobs to keep us off the streets. I'm not saying I hate my life, I just wonder what it would be like to live in a nice big house with more than 2 rooms and be able to go to the mall with friends, spending as much money as you want. The Almost That Broke Me
Many people nowadays are worrying about their love life, but me, I don't care much about that because my studies are more important right now. Growing up without parents wasn't easy. It took a lot of struggle for me to survive and provide for myself, but I know God has always been there for me. Now, I live as a schoolgirl in the house of one of the most famous and rich families in our city. I'm so grateful because they are kind, humble, and respectful. I have been staying with them for three years, and everything has been fine. My job is to wash the uniforms of their three sons, wash the dishes, and do most of the house chores. I do it because I love my job, and they are the ones supporting my education. I became really close to the boys since we are almost the same age. The two youngest are very close to me, and I know I am their favorite-sometimes even more than their own parents. But the eldest used to be very strict and moody, the type who gets angry even with just a simple question. Still, all of that changed at the right time.
