17 year old Avery Adams moves to Washington, alone with her father, after a traumatic incident occurred back home, at Seattle. Avery had always been the one to lay low. She's never really made any effort to get out of her comfort zone - which, in this case, was her best friend Mason. They've known each other since practically being in their cribs, and have always stuck up for each other. Sadly, Mason's dad passed away 3 years ago, due to a heart attack. Since living in a more expensive part of the city, Mason had to support his mom, 2 brothers and a little sister on his own. He was left with no other option other than joining the city's most feared gang. Avery stuck up for him, as always, and has been by his side and offered emotional support. Eventually the two fell for each other, although Mason feared dating her. No, he was no player. He was simply afraid Avery might get harmed due to his 'job'. Little did they know that right after finally taking a leap and making love to one another for the first time, Mason would get shot after a deal 'gone wrong'. Heartbroken Avery couldn't stay there any longer. Her dad found out about everything, but he wasn't mad. No, he offered them to move to a whole new place and start over, both of them. Avery's father, Jack, knocked up Avery's mother, Lillian, when they were both only 16 years old. Her mother gave birth to her and left her and her father in the hospital and never came back. After starting over at a new school, on the very first day, Avery witnesses a few guys beating a student. She rushes to his aid, not even thinking twice, and hurries the guys along. She brings him home to her father, jack, who happens to be a doctor. Little does she know the student is actually the city's worst ever witnessed gang leader. What will happen next when they both know they're attracted to one another? Will Avery face her fears and her past? Will history repeat itself, or would Avery finally get the happiness she deserves?

Avery wrapped an arm around my waist to catch me before I could get out the door. He pushed me up against the door, trapping me between his body and the door. "What's wrong?" I asked innocently. His face hovered over mine, much closer than I was used to. His gaze didn't leave mine as he spoke. "It would have been different if I had told him from the start. You wanted me to lie for you. You started this. If we tell him what really happened, he would be pissed at me for lying to him." "Stormie, you got a phone call!" Mason yelled up the stairs. The closeness between Avery and me started to make my legs feel like Jell-O, and I couldn't make sense of it. Our breathing became heavier. His eyes trapped mine. "Answer him," Avery murmured. "Uh," I stammered. I cleared my throat. "Be down in a minute!" My voice came out higher than usual. My gaze still couldn't escape Avery's. My heart raced wildly as his chest rose and fell against mine. Avery's gaze flickered to my lips. What's happening? My gaze fell to his mouth, which was moving closer to mine. Stormie West is brave, kind, and young. She has a lot to learn about love, trust, lust, and heartbreak. Stormie's older brother, Mason, is brave, cocky, and a bit of an asshole. He's the wide receiver for the high school football team. Avery Prince is Mason's best friend. Avery has it all, popularity, star quarterback, and girls.
